About the Author Cynthia Waldt wrote this book about suicide prevention from a layperson's perspective. This book focuses on what kinds of things she believes are helpful to hear when you are suicidal. Her sources of information are from knowing persons who have committed suicide, knowing persons who have attempted suicide and lived, and from her own personal experience about what has been helpful to hear when she was contemplating suicide. Ms. Waldt has attempted suicide and lived. She is a trauma survivor who suffers from depression and PTSD. Having lived with the repercussions of trauma, Ms. Waldt has worked with many professionals who have helped her live well despite hardship. With help from others, she has learned to live her life to the fullest. Cynthia Waldt is the founder of Waldt Law Office in Minnesota. She has worked as an attorney for over twenty years; as a public defender, as an advocate for sexually abused children and adults, and most recently as a solo practitioner in the area of criminal defense. Ms. Waldt is well regarded as a lecturer and teacher on many subjects including restorative justice, listening skills, and personal growth. When she is not working, Ms. Waldt enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking, paddle sports, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. She also designs and creates jewelry and enjoys singing and playing guitar and piano. Most importantly, Ms. Waldt enjoys spending time with many family members and friends who love and support her.
