The exploration of red seaweeds species for their galactan contents are the research priority areas, as they are used in food and pharma industries. The galactans from various red seaweeds species are utilized in many research areas e.g. in cosmetics, printing, and textile formulations industries. This monograph described the structural characterization of sulphated galactans of four red seaweeds species viz Champia indica, Champia parvula, Sarconema filiforme and Sarconema scinaioides, which are abundantly occurring in Indian coasts. The various analytical techniques were used to elucidate the basic repeating units of the galactans of these seaweeds. This monograph will give the value addition of these red seaweeds species of Indian coast.
