Alfred Mullett is an internationally published freelance writer and artist, specializing in history and rail topics. He works at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. Leonard Merritt manages the train department at Tammie's Hobbies in Beaverton, Oregon, and volunteers in Washington County, teaching senior high school students in model design and construction. They are the authors of Arcadia Publishing's Images of Rail: Sumpter Valley Railways, and both are members of Sumpter Valley Railroad Restoration, Inc. Merritt also serves as a board member of the Sumpter Valley Railroad.
