The first comprehensive book on superelectrophiles and their applications in synthetic and mechanistic organic chemistry

This reference presents a comprehensive review and discussion of the substantial experimental and theoretical work in the field of superelectrophiles and their reactions in recent years. It covers:
_

The differentiation of usual electrophiles from superelectrophiles
_

Ways to increase electrophilic strength
_

The classification into gitonic and distonic superelectrophiles
_

Methods of study, including substituent and solvent effects as well as the role of electrophilic solvation in chemical reactions as studied by kinetic investigations, spectroscopic studies, gas-phase studies, and theoretical methodologies
_

A review of the superelectrophiles that have been identified and studied
_

A discussion of the significance of superelectrophilic chemistry and its future

In addition to a discussion of the basics of this emerging field, Superelectrophiles and Their Chemistry includes tools to help the reader apply the chemistry. It's an invaluable reference for chemists in academia and research, industrial chemists in pharmaceutical and petrochemical fields, and graduate students studying inorganic and physical organic chemistry.
Autorenporträt
George A. Olah, PhD, is the 1994 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and the winner of numerous other prestigious awards, including the American Chemical Society'sPriestley Medal, Award for Petroleum Chemistry, Award for Creativity in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, and Roger Adams Medal, the Michaelson-Morley Award, and the Chemical Pioneer Award from the American Institute of Chemists. Professor Olah has published more than 1300 scientific papers, holds over 100 patents, and has served as coauthor or author of more than twenty books and monographs. He is currently Director of the Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute and the Donald P. and Katherine B. Loker Distinguished Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles. Douglas A. Klumpp, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Northern Illinois University in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in the Olah research group, Professor Klumpp initiated his own research into the chemistry of reactive electrophilic systems; he has applied this chemistry to the development of synthetic methods and the study of reaction mechanisms.
Rezensionen
"Es kann sein, dass Leser durch die neuen Erkenntnisse einige Reaktionen, welche in der normalen Laborpraxis durchgeführt werden, mit anderen Augen sehen werden. Diese Leser werden enorm profitieren, da das Buch zudem eine Vielzahl an praktischen Tipps enthält, die man in eigenen Reaktionen verwenden kann." Portal für Organische Chemie
