Cyndie Kieffer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois and Indiana. She is also a Certified Professional Practitioner in Animal-Assisted Play Therapy®-Instructor and an AutPlay® provider.Cyndie has worked alongside her dogs since 2002 in a variety of settings, including private practice, nursing homes, hospice, and advocacy work. She authored the children's book, Jack the Brave and contributed a chapter, "To the Rescue: How Animals Can Assist People Diagnosed with Autism," to A Spectrum of Solutions for Clients with Autism, edited by Rachel Bedard and Lorna Hecker.She has presented on Animal-Assisted Interventions at international, national, and state levels. In 2023, she received the Kirrie Award from the International Institute for Animal-Assisted Play Therapy® in recognition of her contributions to the field.A longtime volunteer with Pet Partners, Cyndie enjoys sharing her canine "partners in crime," Norm and Cliff, with their community. She was part of the focus group that helped create the Association for Animal-Assisted Professionals and currently serves on the board of the International Association for Animal-Assisted Play Therapy®.
