In the scientific sense, superstition is fundamentally irrational; however, superstitious beliefs are popularly accepted as evidenced in the emotional behaviour of the holder. Additionally, holding a superstition carries pejorative taint in that some people don't wish to admit to this of belief. Since these beliefs are transmitted via social inter-action, they are reflected in human experiences within athletic organizations. Their existence within the sphere of athletics re-quires investigation. Personality which influence the performance also affected by many factors like, Superstitious Behavior and Decision Making etc. Hence there is need to study effect of Superstitious Behavior and Decision Making. Superstition is a common phenomenon in our modern society, only a few studies have explored empirically on what it depends. This text investigates the factors which determine superstition, reporting some preliminary empirical results.

Dr. Baljinder Singh Bal is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education at G.N.D. University Amritsar. He obtained his Ph.D. from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Bal is the recipient of 1st JSHR Research Award 2009 (Martos) Spain. His areas of interest include Motor Learning & Sport Performance and Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
