Among various types of catalysts, heterogeneous catalysts have several advantages over their homogeneous counterparts due to ease of product separation, noncorrosive nature, and reusability. Various heterogeneous catalysts, such as supported metals, metal oxides, mixed metal oxides, and framework materials, have been developed and successfully exploited for several chemical transformations. Solid acids, mainly metal oxides, mixed metal oxides, and their surface-modified forms, are used in various critical organic reactions.

Le Dr Sandeep S. Kahandal a obtenu son diplôme d'études supérieures à l'Université de Pune. Après M.Sc. en chimie organique, il a rejoint l'Institut de technologie chimique de Mumbai pour le doctorat. Programme sous la supervision du professeur R. V. Jayaram. Actuellement, il travaille comme professeur adjoint au B.N. de V.P.M. Collège des sciences Bandodkar, Thane/Mumbai.
