Neyret was appointed professor in orthopaedic and trauma surgery in his alma mater (1994), and served as Head of the orthopaedics' department of Lyon Hospital for more than 20 years. Since 2017, he has devoted most of his time to research and teaching, as well as to his clinical activities abroad. Among other positions, he serves as a consultant at the Burjeel Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center in Abu Dhabi and in "clinique Genolier" in Switzerland. He was rewarded by the patellofemoral foundation with a life time achievement award for his contribution to the treatment of patellofemoral disorders. member of several medical societies, previous president of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS),, and President of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament study group during the period 2014-16. Pr. Neyret is the current secretary general of The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT)'s foundation and will be president of EFORT in June 2019 Dr. Butcher graduated from University College and Middlesex Hospital London in 1989 and completed his early surgical training in London leading to Fellowship of the College of Surgeons of England in 1994. He then moved to South Africa in 1997 to join the orthopaedic postgraduate scheme at Groote Schuur Hospitals in Cape Town. After being awarded the Fellowship of the Orthopaedic College of Surgeons, he returned to theUK in 2002 to join Bristol's specialist orthopaedic training programme. He did a knee fellowship in Gloucester and a fellowship in the lower limb reconstruction unit in Bristol University before being awarded Master of Surgery for his thesis on treatment of fractures around the knee. He was appointed as an NHS Consultant in Gloucester and Cheltenham in 2004, a post he held for nine years. In 2014 he took up a post to work alongside Professor Neyret at Healthpoint, Abu Dhabi, and continues to practice knee surgery there, performing knee arthroplasty, osteotomy and sports medicine. His wide experience of orthopaedics in the English speaking world has enabled him to contribute to the international perspective of the book. Dr. Guillaume Demey graduated in 2002 from medical school at the University of Lille in northern France. In 2006 he completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery focusing on the knee at the Medical University of Lyon. In 2008, he completed a six-month fellowship at the Sydney Orthopaedics Research Institute/Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia as a research fellow under Drs. David Parker and Myles Coolican by whom he was taught the different aspects of Knee Arthroplasty and ACL reconstruction. He then went on to become an Assistant Professor at the Albert Trillat Center in Lyon, France under Prof. Philippe Neyret; the current President of EFORT. In 2012 Dr. Demey started in private practice at Lyon Ortho Clinic Center with partner David Dejour; President of ESSKA. His clinical focus is knee surgery doing 200 meniscus lesions and 200 ACL reconstructions each year. He also performs over 100 knee arthroplasties and 50 osteotomies each year. He is very interested in patellofemoral disorders, his research focusing on episodic patellar dislocation, ACL procedure and rapid recovery after knee arthroplasty. Dr. Demey is member of several medical societies and boardmember of EKA (European Knee Associates), the degenerative knee section of ESSKA.
