This study proposed to evaluate the sustainability of hunting in the village of Mokouangonda, in northern Congo, where game is the primary source of animal protein for the population (Wilkie and Carpenter, 1998). Also, according to these same authors, the game trade contributes favorably to the domestic economy of the populations of the forest areas of the Congo Basin. Thus, the size of game harvests depends on the requirements of the two components for which harvests are made: self-consumption and the bushmeat trade. The various operations that constituted the specific objectives of our study were: the inventory of wildlife in an area of 494.5 km², the census of the population of the village of Mokouangonda, the counting of game taken from the forest and the weighing of game consumed by households.
