Sustainability and ethical awareness are ubiquitous notions in today's world, affecting our daily decisions and forcing us to think twice about what and how we consume. Globalisation has contributed substantially to spreading this concept of sustainable consumption all over the industrialised world. Through initiatives promoted by international and supranational bodies, governments and various stakeholders, each individual is called upon to help reduce our demand on the planet's capacities. The author gives an overview of the most important global efforts in this field and provides insight into the current state of sustainable consumer behaviour.
