Sustainable Electricity Production in a Developing Economy, the case study of Ghana is geared toward policy makers in developing economies and to students taking engineering courses. The book s material is also applicable to researchers working to make electricity production in developing countries sustainable. The energy system and electricity inaccessibility is a global concern which calls for immediate action. This book focuses on thermal electricity production as a complimentary option. In addition to providing updated material in the rapidly developing electricity production system in Africa,it emphasizes on the major causes of electricity supply shortages and the main barrier to electricity sustainability in a typical developing economy such as Ghana and Nigeria. The concept of alternative thermal production options are based on fuel sources. In keeping with contemporary concerns of climate change, marginal efficiencies were used to determine the fuel required in oil- equivalent and emissions in the form of carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere.
