The agricultural sector is the one having strong ties with nature and the environment. On the one hand, it can produce large environmental damages; on the other hand, it can be developed in harmony with nature. How can an agricultural economy follow the latter path? This book tries to answer this question on the example of Moldova. The country was once a republic of the Soviet Union and specialized mostly in agricultural production. Since its independence in 1991 very little changes occurred in the structure of its economy. This study covers important aspects of agricultural production related to plant protection and pest control and tries to evaluate Moldova s potential in implementing sustainable pest management schemes. The book should be especially useful to professionals in Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Policy fields, as well as to anyone else who is interested in countries in transition and sustainable farming.
