According to IPCC 2014, climate change impacts on livelihoods will increase in the future and consequently bring sufferings and threats to mankind. Climate fluctuations and variability are going to worsen with time and hence, correct adaptation and mitigation measures must be taken to reduce climate vagaries. The alteration of climate change patterns in the study area has significantly affected livelihoods of area residents. The analysis of climate data reveals the fact that the median temperatures have increased over the last three decades. Precipitation trends and variability ha become unreliable and unpredictable. Drought periods have become prolonged and at times the region experiences an upsurge in rainfall resulting in floods, mudslides, poor food production and hence, increased food insecurity. The situation has been exacerbated by (anthropogenic) activities which have stressed agricultural systems, water resources and natural resources. Overall, climate change will cause degradation of the lower economic fortunes and reduce opportunities of for poverty reduction. The way forward is expand capacity to provide decision makers and actors with relevant information to adapt.

J'ai obtenu en 1980 un diplôme avec mention en zoologie et en botanique à l'UoN. J'ai enseigné la biologie et la chimie dans un certain nombre d'écoles secondaires avant de retourner en classe en 2008. J'ai poursuivi un M.Sc. en écologie animale à l'Université Kenyatta et j'ai obtenu mon diplôme en 2013. J'ai terminé mon doctorat en changement climatique et adaptation UoN en attendant d'être diplômé.
