He has authored or edited seventeen books, including Cajun Mardi Gras Masks, Perspectives on the Jack Tales and Other North American Märchen, American Folktales: From the Collections of the Library of Congress, Second Line Rescue: Improvised Responses to Katrina and Rita, and We Are All Survivors: Verbal, Ritual, and Material Ways of Narrating Disaster and Recovery. Maida Owens is director of the Louisiana Folklife Program. C.
