According to us, media have the power to shape and direct the advancement of a society, with that power comes a responsibility to provide a neutral and objective picture of the reality. Guyana provides two independent newspapers, the Kaieteur News and the Starbroek News. When we conducted this research were our objective to investigate which role the free newspapers had in Guyana, the responsibilities they had, and the level of free speech in the newspapers.
