The separation science plays a very significant role in analytical chemistry. The solvent extraction method has made great strides in last four decades. It is very simple, rapid, selective and sensitive. The organic chemists have rendered yeoman's service to analytical chemists by synthesizing an array of ligands with different functional groups containing varying donor atoms therefore; ligands are useful for the purpose of separation of metal ions in solvent extraction. Synergism is the mixture of extractant has attracted considerable attention in recent years and it offers interesting possibilities and their practical applications. The chemistry of synergistic extraction of Cu(II), Ag(I), Au(III) is of greater interest because of the high extraction efficiency of these metals in the presence of chelating agents and a neutral or a basic donor was enhanced. Pyrimidine-2-thiol is known as cyclic thiourea constitutes remarkable versatile class analytical useful reagent especially, for extractive spectrophotometric determination of platinum group metals, coinage metals and toxic metals. As a branch of solvent extraction, synergistic extraction has become a common and sensitive method.
