In this work, we propose a semantic study of the French connector d'ailleurs by adopting a comparative analysis with some Arabic correspondents used in journalistic discourse to translate the different uses of d'ailleurs. Indeed, studies on the French argumentative connector d'ailleurs in particular and on French connectors in general are numerous. However, Arabic connectors are rarely studied. Through this research work, we wish to address this lack. To do so, after presenting the different uses of d'ailleurs, we then present its Arabic translations proposed in bilingual dictionaries and those selected in our journalistic corpus. Finally, we turn to the analysis of d'ailleurs in terms of its three Arabic correspondents selected from our study corpus: 'i (" "), fi'al-waqi'i (" ") and min ihatin u ra (" "). The main objective of our work is to identify the specific definitions of the elsewhere connector, to list its possible uses and to shed light on its semantic functions.
