Perfluorinated NHC could be bound to a gold (I) centre to give a gold complex that could act as a catalyst for A3-coupling reactions. The use of this class of catalyst would be environmentally advantageous catalyst; as it can be recycled as it is possible to separate the catalyst from the organic products by liquid-liquid or solid-liquid extraction to reuse it again in subsequent organic reactions. This is preferable in organic reaction to obtain pure products from the reaction mixture, and herein lies the use of the fluorous technique to separate the products and remove the fluorous catalyst from the mixture
