In this study, sol-gel and co-precipitation methods were used to synthesize pure tin (IV) oxide (SnO2), titanium (IV) oxide (TiO2), zirconium (IV) oxide (ZrO2), bismuth (III) oxide (Bi2O3) and zinc oxide (ZnO). Moreover, binary oxides of TiO2-Bi2O3, ZnOBi2O3 and ZrO2-Bi2O3 were prepared by solid state method. In addition, pure and crystalline Bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) nanocomposite was also synthesized with simple sol-gel method. The structure, morphology and bands of samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) respectively. After characterizations, a tetragonal, monoclinic, anatase, hexagonal and tetragonal phase of SnO2,Bi2O3, TiO2, ZnO and ZrO2 were confirmed respectively. Monoclinic -Bi2O3 was confirmed in all binary oxides samples, however, pure anatase phase TiO2, tetragonal phase ZrO2 and hexagonal phase ZnO confirmed in TiO2- Bi2O3, ZrO2- Bi2O3 and ZnO- Bi2O3 binary oxidesrespectively and also it was observed that there were changes in crystalline sizes of metallic oxides in binary oxide nanocomposites.
