Heterocyclic compounds have been disseminated in nature and their chemistry is one of the most interesting branches of organic chemistry with significant practical and theoretical importance. They are pervasive in many areas of life sciences and technology. As a result, a great deal of research carried out in chemistry is confided to heterocyclic chemistry. It is vast and expanding area of chemistry because of obvious application of compounds derived from heterocyclic rings in pharmacy, medicine, agriculture, plastic, polymer and other fields. Many heterocyclic compounds synthesized in laboratories have been successfully used as clinical agents. But more literature data is required in this field retrospecting its importance. Therefore, this background has motivated us to conduct research on nitrogen containing heterocyclic compounds and we have studied the synthetic strategies of the nitrogen containing heterocyclic compounds. This book provides valuable information on the synthesis of some new nitrogen heterocycles carrying interesting moieties like benzimidazoles, quinazolines, selenazoles, pyridines and indoles.
