The statement of the problem is to develop an environmental friendly, cost effective cathode material with the technical requirements to withstand the energy demand of directly storing electricity for the uses in today society. The author solved the problem by designing a water soluble, thermally stable organic moiety that is used as fuel and a template in the low temperature solution combustion synthesis of cathode materials utilized in lithium-ion energy storage devices. The Green Soft Chemical method (MADHAMS) is a useful alternative solution-combustion method for the synthesis of highly pure, fine-sized, spherical & cubic cathode powders. With the global demand pushing industrial applications toward green chemistry, we developed this technique with environmental friendly solvents. This MADHAMS method would fall within the Self-Propagation Combustion Synthesis (SPCS) family. SPCS is a family of methods that utilize metal nitrates as conventional oxidants and organic compounds as fuels. As the nitrate decomposes and the fuel is oxidized, energy is released into the local system as heat energy.
