The performance of synthesized surfactant and corresponding polymeric surfactant as a chemical agent for enhanced oil recovery has been studied by measuring the interfacial tension (IFT) between crude oil and aqueous surfactant solutions, rheological behavior and contact angle against sandstone surface. Core flooding experiments have been conducted in sand-pack system and 26-30% additional recovery of original oil in place (OOIP) are obtained by injection of 0.5 pore volume of surfactant slugs after conventional water flooding.

Dr. Ajay Mandal is presently working as Associate Professor in Department of Petroleum Engineering, IIT (ISM), Dhanbad. He has published more than 110 research papers in reputed peer reviewed International Journals. Dr. Mandal has been awarded 2015 SPE South Asia Regional Distinguished Achievement Award for Petroleum Engineering Faculty.
