The book encompasses preparation of a castor oil-based sulfonated surfactant and polymeric surfactant for application in enhanced oil recovery. The developed surfactant and polymeric surfactant are characterized by FTIR, FE-SEM, EDX, TGA, DLS analysis. The performance of synthesized surfactant and corresponding polymeric surfactant as a chemical agent for enhanced oil recovery has been studied by measuring the interfacial tension (IFT) between crude oil and aqueous surfactant solutions, rheological behavior and contact angle against sandstone surface. Core flooding experiments have been conducted in sand-pack system and 26-30% additional recovery of original oil in place (OOIP) are obtained by injection of 0.5 pore volume of surfactant slugs after conventional water flooding.
