This Book deals with the synthesis and characterisation of the piston components and coating with zirconia and its additives. In this investigation, cast iron piston with a ceramic material is used. These materials are taken so as to give out the efficient properties by coating the piston material with zirconia and its additives. In-order to stabilize zirconia, yttrium is added to form yttria stabilized zirconia. This yttria stabilized zirconia is doped with nickel having 99.99% purity using electron beam vapour deposition method. For optimum coating condition 15% and 25% nickel is being mixed with yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ). The thickness of zirconia doped with nickel coating is about 2µm. Then the analysis will be carried out in coating of piston made of cast iron with YSZ and nickel. The various testing process of piston materials coated with YSZ and nickel are surface roughness by AFM, corrosion testing by EIS spectroscopy, X-RAY diffraction Hardness measurement using Vickers Hardness Testing Machine and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM).
