As a part of our general programme, "A study on some pyrrole, pyrazole and isoxazole derivatives" has been taken up. Vast literature is available on the chemistry of pyrroles, pyrazolines, isoxazolines and their derivatives and it becomes a difficult task to include all such material. However, sufficient care has been taken to give a composite picture of the methods of syntheses of pyrroles, pyrazolines and isoxazolines as they are related to the present work. Thus, a review presented in the following pages aims only to bring about a rational and comprehensive approach on the synthesis of these compounds.
