The main interest of this book is to contribute to a better understanding of stabilization processes in a complex system, by analyzing the capacity of a National Strategy Program to produce changes in the stabilization process implemented jointly by the host government and the international community in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. This book aims to understand a complex reality, which suffers from a lack of both conceptual and empirical evidence. On the one hand, more field studies seem to be needed to better understand the motivations of the rebellions and the causes of the duration of the violence. On the other hand, the relationship between stabilization strategies and the persistence of insecurity or violence is not well studied in the field. It goes without saying that this book is in line with the authors who believe that conflict is a complex, multi-layered and well established situation. Only a few elements are visible, observable or even known.
