Cardiovascular diseases are currently the leading cause of death worldwide, with systemic arterial hypertension being the most common form of these diseases, affecting around 30% of the global population. In the elderly, this rate rises to 60% and is the group that has the highest morbidity and mortality rate due to hypertension. Physical exercise is known to have numerous benefits for cardiovascular health. Based on the assumption that the aquatic environment is very effective for the elderly in various types of treatment and that water promotes a series of changes in the cardiovascular system, this study aims to investigate how hydrotherapy can influence systemic arterial hypertension in the elderly.
