Tadeusz Pe?czy?ski was a Polish Army major general, intelligence officer and chief of the General Staff's Section II.During World War II, he became chief of staff of the Home Army and deputy commander of Armia Krajowa. Tadeusz Pe?czy?ski was the son of Ksawery Pe?czy?ski, a Sanniki sugar-mill technician, and Maria, née Liczbi?ska, a teacher, and was a great-grandson of Micha? Pe?czy?ski, a general in the Army of Congress Poland. Pe?czy?ski began school in ??czyca. In 1905 he participated in a school strike connected with Polish efforts to win independence from the Russian Empire. He continued his schooling in Warsaw at the Gen. Pawe? Chrzanowski Gymnasium.
