The author's course of life changed from self-destruction to success and happiness through hard work, and determination. Tricks of the trade are shared to show how he used his past nightmare experiences to help him succeed in his recovery from epilepsy, addiction and mental health diagnoses. Many techniques discussed in the book have been helpful for people struggling with addictions and mental illnesses. The author believes that courage, resilience and faith are crucial factors needed to overcome adversity and take the high road.

Autorenporträt
Jeffrey Claude Parker earned an AS in Criminal Justice at Community College of Allegheny County in 1995, and Bachelors' of Arts in Social Work (BASW) in 1997 and his Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree in 1998 from the University of Pittsburgh. For the last 21 years he has worked as a psychotherapist, a forensic social worker and clinician, a care manger, and is currently an Addiciton Specialist, a trainer, He was a Field Instructor for students from Indiana University of PA, California University of PA, and the University of Pittsburgh, where he also serves as a Board member for the Social Work Alumni Association. He has been keynote speaker at the ACT 101 Leadership conference of PA, and Community College of Allegheny County. He has three rescue pets, Buddy, Prince and nineteen year old cat, Domino. He has overcome epilepsy, and alcoholism, and has learned to cope with the still present ADHD, Depression and PTSD. His greatest gift came from e-Harmony where he met his wife Kimberly Parker. They happily reside in Pittsburgh, PA, the city of bridges and champions.
