It is a small farming community located among large open fields that cover the plateau above the nearby Tal''ianki River that winds its way through this area in a narrow riverine valley. Talianki was the location of the largest known settlement of the Neolithic Cucuteni-Trypillian culture, encompassing about 450 hectares (1112 acres), and laid out in an oval design of concentric rows of interconnected buildings, and measuring 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) long by 1.1 kilometers (0.7 miles) wide.
