Calomyscus is one of the most controversial species of rodents which its species numbers have been changed over the years. Its distribution area was extended to Europe whereas nowadays is confined to the west of Asia. The taxonomic rank of Calomyscus was uncertain for a long time but molecular markers established its taxonomic position as an independent family at the base of Eumuroidea. Our results suggested three new species and one new subspecies in this genus and expanded the known range of several species distribution. We identified and presented some morphometric and geometric-morphometric characters along with cytotype features for Calomyscus species. Two mitochondrial genes also were sequenced and submitted in Genbank in this genus.
