This research generated encouraging information on taxonomic identification and life cycle issues of pentatomid bugs in Bangladesh. Long term survey attempts are required covering wider areas and habitat to account the total diversity status of pentatomid fauna in the country. This research generated encouraging information on taxonomic identification and life cycle issues of pentatomid bugs in Bangladesh. Long term survey attempts are required covering wider areas and habitat to account the total diversity status of pentatomid fauna in the country. Ten characters (e.g. size, shape and coloration, differences in pronotum and scutellum, fore wing structures, structures of front legs, structures of connexiva and both male and female genitalia) were studied for each of the specimens to understand the taxonomic identity. Measurements of different parts showed great variations among the species. Life cycle parameters studied are number of females collected, number of females laid eggs, percentage of oviposition, number of nymphs hatched, incubation period, nymphal period, number of adults emerged and adult longevity. All these parameters varied between Eysarcoris acerus and Halys dentatus. Data on life cycle history clearly indicated the possibility of rearing bugs in the laboratory.Photographic facilities along with microphotography technology should be enriched. Interest and initiative, however, are needed to develop molecular techniques in identifying insects.
