He takes Thomossene and Suplera, Tchanaze's parents, on a mission to rescue their daughter and liberate her from the curse. Carlos Paradona Rufino Roque was born in 1963 in Inhamiga, Mozambique. He has worked as a lawyer, a social sciences researcher and a journalist. He has three novels to his name: Tchanaze, a donzela de Sena (Tchanaze, 2009), N'tsai Tchassassa, a virgem de missangas (N'tsai Tchassassa, Virgin of the Beads, 2013), Carota N'tchakatcha, feitiços e mitos (Carota N'tchakatcha, Spells and Myths, 2018). He has also written a collection of poems, A Gestação do Luar (The Moon's Gestation, 1991). He is the current Secretary General of the Association of Mozambican Writers.
