English is one of the main languages in international communication and business. In Kenya, English is the official language and the medium of instruction in all subjects (except other languages) in upper primary school and beyond. However, despite the importance attached to English in Kenya, the performance of students in national examinations has been wanting. This book explores the competences of teachers in enhancing interaction in the teaching of oral communication skills in English. The book recommends that teachers of English and other languages should strengthen the teaching of oral communication skills in order to enhance students' performance and competence in the languages. This is because oral communication skills form the back bone to the teaching of languages in that the other two language skills - reading and writing - rely on students' proficiency in listening and speaking. This book is very useful to language teacher trainees and educators; practicing language teachers as well as language policy makers.
