An effective teacher is an invaluable aid to student learning and students' life-long development and success. This study attempts to profile an effective teacher in the Trinidad and Tobago context, based on the perceptions of the major stakeholders in education. The findings have shown that there are distinctive qualities which effective teachers possess. The development of these qualities and skills should be focused on at teacher preparation institutions so that every child in the education system can be assured of being exposed to effective teachers.
