Teachers role in overcoming issues of poverty in school is central, and one learning theory that addresses the importance of teacher learning to make change in school is Adult Learning Theory (ALT). Through learning, teachers are expected to be aware of the context of poverty at school and able to deliver professional teaching under deprived conditions. Teachers learning is the focus of this research. The research investigates five teachers as learners in a disadvantaged school in Indonesia, in order to identify factors of influence on teachers learning and to describe teachers engagement in learning activities. Moreover, this research underlies the discussions of teacher learning within ALT that emphasises the role of teacher learning to answer the needs of schools in challenging time. Apparently, limited research is currently available to explain teacher learning in the context of a disadvantaged school in Indonesia, therefore the analysis should provide valuable information for the government, professionals and school leaders, as a basis for policy making in improving teacher quality.
