Professional ethics is important in perceiving teacher identity, setting teachers' behavior pattern and developing overall institutional culture. However, in institutional as well as professional development approaches, professional ethics does not come as a focal priority mainly because there is a lack of adequate understanding regarding how to incorporate and functionalize ethics in an organization. For example, two policy documents outlined at national level in Nepal highlight uniform ethical codes and fail to address local meaning of ethics. This issue has arisen because there was a lack of efforts to contextualize the ethics and code to the local milieu. This analysis, therefore, should be useful to professionals in the teaching and educational field or anyone who may be considering utilizing or developing code of conducts or ethics in their professional life.
