The purpose of this study was to investigate how the teaching and learning process of Spanish as a foreign language occurs in the first grades of primary education in an environment of bilingual education in the context of the Brazil/Venezuela border, in this way, the target audience was constituted by coordinators, teachers and students of the 2nd year, of a Public School in Pacaraima, municipality of the State of Roraima, having as objectives: To discuss the philosophies and concepts of existing educational programs and projects in bilingual situation in national and local context, verifying the guidelines, approaches, methodologies and pedagogical practices developed in Spanish classes. Investigating which linguistic codes are common, inside and outside the classroom, taking into account the bilingual potential of the context and reflecting on the possibilities and richness of knowledge that the border context brings to students and researchers of the Spanish language in our region.
