The chapter-I gives detailed theoretical background and significance of primary education and concept of teaching competency. The chapter-II has reviewed latest and relevant research studies relating to teaching competency from researches conducted in different countries of the world. The chapter-III lucidly presents the procedure, methods, tools used for undertaking this work. The chapter-IV presents data in tabular, graphical and textual form for understanding of readers. Dr Ramakanta Mohalik, Assistant Professor in Education at Regional Institute of Education (NCERT), Bhubaneswar. He earned his post graduation in Education from Ravenswa University and PhD from Utkal University, Odisha, India. He has been teaching post graduate students since eight years and involved in organising in-service training programmes.
