Seminar paper from the year 2011 in the subject Didactics - English - Pedagogy, Literature Studies, grade: 1,7, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, language: English, abstract: After a short overview on formulaic language, the following paper willdemonstrate why teachers nowadays should teach formulaic language and thatformulaic language should be a component of the curriculum. The subsequentcontrastive schoolbook analysis will examine the occurrences of formulas in aSpanish and an English textbook. Afterwards various explanations for the results will be given, before finally concluding with a summary and some suggestions for future teachers.
