The present research shows the findings of a study conducted in 2020. The objective of the study was to propose some teaching-learning strategies to facilitate the acquisition of the English language in students with differential abilities (mild intellectual) in the ninth and eleventh grades of the educational institution Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra in the city of Ibagué. In order to fulfill this objective, the state of knowledge of the students in terms of their level of English was investigated, in order to design the activities to apply the affective and cognitive strategies. Once the proposal was evaluated, we proceeded to implement it, and during each session the students' performance was evaluated in order to establish the correlation based on the evaluations obtained in the pre-test and post-test. The research is quantitative, has a sequential process, and some phases can be redefined, the information was collected through diagnostic test, affective and cognitive strategies, specifically the virtual sessions that were held with students and a final test.
