This collection of poems and projects began as a supplement to other programs used to teach children the alphabet. The worksheets labeled Trace in the Space help with fine motor skills while teaching the students to form the letter of the week. The worksheets labeled Search and Color help train the eyes to flow from left to right in preparation of reading while learning to recognize the letter. The list of Fun Words for the week will serve as a visual when displayed at the children's eye level. After reading the list of Fun Words to and with the class, the children will enjoy trying to read the list by themselves. Many times they like to play "school" at recess. It's all learning, even though they think they're playing. Displayed pictures on the wall that feature the letter being learned, also greatly serve for review and for "playing school" as the children ask themselves, "What letter does that picture start with?" Although this manual started out as a supplement to other programs, and can still be used this way, it now also stands alone (tried and true) as a wonderful and fun way to teach children the alphabet.
