The study investigated the status of teaching in public secondary schools in Hargeisa city. Somaliland education system acknowledges that teaching is the most significant change in the status of education, therefore, will fully support quality of teaching process and development of status of teaching. The study specifically investigated the status of the act of teaching, the content of teaching and teaching intention in public secondary schools in Hargeisa city. Guided by the Teaching Theory and the study used a cross-sectional survey research design on a stratified random sample of 370 students 196 teachers. Data was collected using questionnaire method, and document analysis in May 2017, and analyzed using chi-square method. The study established that act of teaching, [ 2 (2, N= 153) = 77.765, p = .000.]; content of teaching, [ 2 (2, N= 306) = 89.261, p = .000.]; and teaching intention, [ 2 (4, N= 153) = 127.621, p = .000.], had significant by the teachers in public secondary schools in Hargeisa city. The study concludes that the status of teaching by teachers in public secondary schools in Hargeisa city was generally poor.
