Technological advancement is a natural process, and with its introduction into a sport, athletes simply become "better". Technologies in sports are man-made means developed to reach human interests or goals in or relating to a particular sport. Technology in sports is a technical means by which athletes attempt to improve their training and competitive surroundings to enhance their overall athletic performance. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) opens an interesting perspective for predicting injury risk and performance in team sports. A better understanding of the techniques of AI employed and of the sports that are using AI is clearly warranted. With the evolution and development of the Internet of Things into the Internet of Everything, concepts such as Cloud Computing, Future Internet, Big Data, Robotics, and Semantics will be even more investigated and impact many more sectors and we hope that this is only the beginning. Sensors are playing a big role in gathering the required data from the sportsman in the actual playing situation and depending upon this data, players and coaches can identify areas that need improvement.
