Tecpán de Galeana is one of the 81 municipalities of Guerrero, in south-western Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Tecpán de Galeana. The municipality covers an area of 2,537.8 km². As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 52,848. Guerrero officially Estado Libre y Soberano de Guerrero (English: Free and Sovereign State of Guerrero) is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided in 81 municipalities and its capital city is Chilpancingo.
