We point out that Nyangezi would have known a complex tectonic-sedimentary history and would be undergoing three distinct tectonic regimes: extensive, compressive and transpressive. Finally, an outline of the geological history of the Nyangezi area is presented, which is successively characterized by: Precambrian sedimentation, Kibaran compressive tectonics, extensive tectonics of the Tertiary-Quaternary rifting, Plio-Quaternary transpressive tectonics, Plio-Quaternary sedimentation and Quaternary seismotectonics.
