Ted Gärdestad (Swedish pronunciation: [t d jæ st d]), internationally known as Ted Gardestad, Ted Gaerdestad or just Ted (born Ted Arnbjörn Gärdestad, 18 February 1956 22 June 1997 in Sollentuna, Sweden) was a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician. Ted was born to Arne and Margit Gärdestad in 1956 and grew up in Sollentuna, Stockholm County. He was the youngest of three siblings, he had two older brothers; Kjell (1944 2000) and Kenneth (b. 1948). Ted was only 15 years of age when he and his eight year older brother Kenneth Gärdestad decided to knock on the door of Polar Music in 1971.
