This study, Television and Violence among Youths in Makurdi, Benue State of Nigeria, explores the impact of violent television content on youth behavior in Makurdi. Through a quantitative research approach using surveys, the study reveals that many youths in Makurdi are exposed to violent television programs featuring animal cruelty, human brutality, and bloody scenes. The research also identifies video games, the internet, and mobile phones as additional sources of violent content. The findings suggest that consistent exposure to such content may increase the likelihood of violent behavior, contributing to social issues like fighting, armed robbery, cultism, and gangsterism. The study recommends that government agencies work with television stations to reduce the broadcast of violent content, aiming to mitigate its negative influence on youth behavior.
