Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) is the dysfunctions characterized by pain in the region of the temporomandibular joints, muscles of mastication, and periauricular area; limitations and deviations in the mandibular movements; joint noises; and an altered occlusal relation. TMD is similar to musculoskeletal disorders in other parts of the body, and similar therapeutic approaches can generally be used. Hence it is important for dentists to rule out disorders that mimic TMD, to identify non-TMD disorders that may negatively impact the patient's TMD symptoms, and to offer the patient therapies that will provide the most cost-effective long-term symptom relief. Dentistry being closely coupled with TMJ, hereby publishing the book for gaining a better understanding of the TMJ and its disorders, for a better visualization of the joint and to help in improving the quality of life of the affected individuals, and its association with dentistry for all the budding dentists.
