The textbook covers all the aspects of interventional radiology (IR), ranging from anatomy, pre-procedural evaluation, technique, post procedure care, and complications. It provides a comprehensive overview of both vascular and non-vascular interventions and thus fills the gap in the existing literature. The Initial chapters of the book focus on the hardware, drugs, contrast media, and imaging systems used in IR enabling the reader to become oriented to the interventional techniques that are covered in the subsequent chapters. Each chapter in the book focuses upon a particular set of interventions on an organ or organ system from head to toe, thereby facilitating convenient reading by the users. This book is designed not only to guide trainees enrolled in super-specialty and fellowship courses in interventional radiology (IR) but also to offer foundational IR training for general radiologists, effectively bridging the gap between general radiology and IR. It equips trainees with all the essential knowledge needed to practice IR and prepare for exams such as FRCR, EDiR, RANZCR, DM, and fellowship examinations. Additionally, it serves as a valuable reference for both practicing general radiologists and interventional radiologists. The book is relevant for MD/DNB trainees in radiology/radiodiagnosis, DM/DNrB trainees in interventional radiology/ neuroradiology/ cardiovascular radiology, and fellowship trainees in interventional radiology and its subspecialties. Dr. Chandrashekhara S H did M.D. degree in radio-diagnosis from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India. He had completed senior residency from the same institute followed by obtaining D.N.B degree from National Board of Examinations. Later, he pursued a D.M degree in Cardiovascular Radiology and Endovascular Interventions at AIIMS, Delhi. He continued his association with AIIMS Delhi as the faculty of radio-diagnosis at IRCH since 2012. Presently, as a professor, Dr. Chandrashekhara oversees interventional radiology procedures at his department. Apart from being a regular teacher for undergraduate and post-graduate students, the passionate guide in him has served as a luminary to many Ph.D. and D.M. and M.Ch students and visiting international graduates. Additionally, he has strategized numerous interdepartmental and intradepartmental research projects at AIIMS Delhi. He has published over 130 articles and numerous abstracts in reputed national and international journals, and many chapters in different books. He has been a reviewer and on the editorial board of international journals. He has organized national and international medical conferences, conducted multiple workshops, and delivered over 75 lectures at such conferences. He had been a member of various national and international radiology societies and the selection committee member for distinguished premium institutes. He has collaborated with the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Delhi for various research projects related to medical devices related to interventional radiology.
