Autorenporträt
Major Julian S. Hatcher was born in Winchester, Virginia, in 1888. He went to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis and received his BS in 1909 as an honors graduate. After transferring to the US Army in 1910, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel during World War I. He was stationed in Washington and served several months in 1917 to 1918 as chief of machine gun and small arms engineering and design. He contributed writings early on to the National Rifle Association’s house publication and Arms and the Man , the predecessor title to The American Rifleman. He is also the author of Textbook of Firearms Investigation, Identification, and Evidence, Machine Guns, Handloader’s Manual: A Treatise, and many more. He died in December of 1963.
